If You Are a Teacher...

What Does theExact Word® Have to Do with Schools?

In this discussion, "Schools" has more than one meaning. It means teachers and students. And, these days, "student" means grades 1-8, high school, college undergraduate, graduate, adult.

Because every student and every teacher uses language, theExactWord®'s technology includes everybody in both groups.   You don't just use "good English" in English class.  You think with language;  you reason, analyze, critique, assess with language.  You present yourself in language;  you write;  you showcase your brain.   You find ways to express and develop intelligence, all with language.  In every class, across the curriculum, you need to write, to present your ideas, to see multiple points-of-view, to welcome diverse thinking.  Use theExact Word's®  colors to help you.

We have written our software with very broad purposes, for everyone:   if you use language, you can use theExact Word.®

For example, the software identifies the grammatical labels for individual specific words. Not everybody, of course, has use for grammatical terms, except to win an argument!!

Grammar or no, however, everyone who communicates uses context and that’s what theExact Word® is all about.

This web site provides a "mini-shift" for the paradigm shift that theExact Word® technology creates.  Do your ThoughtPrint.® Visit "So What?"

What Is Wrong with Language-Arts Teaching?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!! Language-arts teachers perform miracles everyday.

English and language-arts teachers everywhere have too much to do, often with too many students, too many classes, and too few materials. Yet, under sometimes tremendous work-strain, our teachers press on, often with wonderful results.

Yet, at the same time, teachers want more: more help, more materials, including software, posters, really good books, better conditions. Most of all, perhaps, teachers want some good ideas, thoughtful, modern approaches, and systems for teaching which really work.

Of course, all those things cost money; thus, teachers want assurance that, having to choose carefully, what comes available will be good.

We also see a particularly crucial problem for teachers which affects language-arts teachers more than others.

Every teacher, across the curriculum hears and reads how students use language. But the language-arts teachers usually bear the responsibility for improving it. Resultantly, all too often that teacher then cannot also teach the art of literature, the process of how to address substance, solid thinking skills, who the literary artists are, and what they contributed to our lives.

At theExact Word® we take all of these problems as a mission.

As a Student, I Know Some Things I Need!

For many students, English is hard or confusing or evasive. Often, grammar doesn’t help. Or, on the other hand, a portfolio, which does encourage writing freedom, helps the most when a teacher can spend time to provide personal feedback.

And, then, in fact, teachers can’t always spend as much time as each student needs.

And then, ironically, even though grammar may confuse, sometimes teachers can’t get to explain how writing could improve from good grammar.

     Students need a real solution.

How Can theExact Word® Help?

We can provide teacher development, student's and teacher's texts, software, and other materials.

You can start to feel some freedom.

Teachers gain an entirely new insight. Context becomes a brand new tool. Just as vocabulary helps, or grammar helps, the context patterns help to "read between the lines," or to learn to think better, or to visualize.

We all share context: all of us, every single time that we speak, read, write, or listen. Every thought that we have becomes language through context.

theExact Word® closes the gap between thinking and communicating. The visualization process becomes easy to talk about. Grammar makes sense. Context helps to write well, to read insightfully.

You master language skills without spending years doing it. You carry that mastery to every teacher, every academic area of study. You showcase your intelligence. Grammar finally gains logic. You win when you struggle to be your best.
