Machine-Language Translation Goals:
Machine translation products currently available, although superior to previous products on the market, still produce translation output that does not quite resemble natural language. Of course, the more complex the sentence inputted in a language, the more confused the output into the target language will be. theExact Word® has identified language universals which have been thought not to exist. We have informally tested many languages from the Indo-European, Semitic, and Asiatic language families, even including ancient Greek and Latin. Although each language has its own distinct "personality," the "mathematical" patterns that we have organized seem to apply to all languages from various language families. Therefore, a device which translates multiple languages is feasible. For the Business Strategist theExact Word® has designed a future product based on certain language universals which we have identified for creating parallel computer screens in translation tools. This context-based approach solves the previously unsolved problem in current translation devices, namely, supplying the computer with the missing algorithms that it needs to translate from one language to another without the user's assistance. Uniquely, we identify meaning by algorithm tied to syntax rather than by vocabulary definition. Our initial strategy is to create a product in which people from all language groups can understand each other by using a machine to translate from any language to any other. The initial product will represent a multi-lingual selection, representing many of the major language families on the planet, rather than just European languages. For Practical Application As the world "shrinks" to a "global village," or, more likely to a global neighborhood, our needs to communicate well will intensify. World events, the ubiquity of the Internet and e-mail already demonstrate the importance of good communication. Poor communications skills hobble career development. Diplomacy requires vigilant attention to nuance from one culture to another exhibited by many foreign-born professionals in countries across the globe. Imagining instant translation no longer seems the stuff of science fiction. Learning new languages quickly adds immense value to excelling both professionally and personally. theExact Word®'s context tools can revolutionize the acquisition and use of multiple languages.
